Crystal Palace Local

After having read the reviews maybe I will try this place again. My boyfriend and I had a weird saturday night experience here, the food was barely lukewarm when it arrived, then was blasted by the air con to cold... took a long, long time to get served... when my bf tried to catch the eye of the waitress she gave him strange looks and consistently ignored him - though we did have a laugh about this together later (and still do, whenever we pass the restaurant!). Finally when I requested some plain yogurt to accompany the main course, they brought it but it was sweetened with sugar - yuk! Oh well, maybe it was just an off night but we never went back.

The good:
3 takeaways so far - all consistently scrumptious. Far better than anything Indian that I've tried in the Herne Hill / Tulse Hill / Crystal Palace area. And I've tried quite a few.

I haven't eaten there yet ... but I sent a couple of friends who were staying over for a few weeks there as they fancied 'something different'. Following their meal, they didn't want to eat anywhere else again. And that meant breakfast, lunch and dinner. One from California and one from Warrington. I'll leave you to decide on that one.

The bad:
Make sure you don't order using their card payment system / paypal when they're closed for the afternoon (or about to) - I did at 2:29pm - that day they closed from 2:30pm until 5:30pm so I called up 45 mins later asking if there was a problem and they didn't see the request - and their driver had gone home for the afternoon. In the end I drove over and picked my food up. They gave me free beer. Later on that day, at 6pm, they delivered my food. Again.

Consistently good food and you can order online. Brilliant!

A great addition to the many restaurants in the area.

In a town full of excellent restaurants, this one still manages to stand out from the crowd in terms of both its price and quality. I've eaten in nearly all the restaurants in Crystal Palace and I think this is one of my personal favourites. Excellent food with a kind courteous service. These boys are making a real effort to make this place a success and they're certainly achieving it.

Definitely give the Gurkhali or Hariyali chicken a try.
