While my son sleeps and my daughter at school, I look out at the snow and counting the weeks till spring. I managed to do a little xmas floristry and it's amazing what you can use from your own back yard and your neighbors to create xmas creations and it's fun.
I sometimes do floristry for St Johns on Aukland Rd and again budgets are small so an eye for the seasonal foliages and flowers and berries and fruits can go a long way and save you a packet.
Yesterday I noticed the birds were desperately getting berries and burrowing in the snow so thought I would get some bird feed from Secret garden and we ( I and my little one )melted some fat and mixed the bird food and hung on garden hanging pots ( the robin is having a feast) so far.
I am exited for the spring and I have thought ahead and planted snowdrops and daffodils for spring and for early summer bulbs alliums and fritillaria and I be honest I have forgotten what else but will update as they appear with the variety names !!!
All I can say for the snow is that it is pretty we may have less pest's and if you did any digging it will be lovely and crumbly for the spring. Less parakeets possibly, Sorry parakeet lovers but there not native.
Happy munday's gardening on a buggy.
