Feeling a little lacklustre as December approaches? There is still time to reboot yourself, gain vitality and get some glow in time for the party season. Here are a few recommendations for the coming weeks:
- Eat at least one portion of dark leafy greens a day: the phytonutrients in green foods are the secret to vibrant health. My top tip for making this achievable is to start each day with a quick and easy to prepare green smoothie: blend 1 banana, 1 peeled orange and a large handful of greens such as spinach with a splash of water.
- Eat enough essential fats to keep your skin supple and healthy. Enjoy a small handful of walnuts as a snack, they contain omega 3 and are a true superfood.
- Eat whole: switch from white bread, rice and pasta to wholegrain. Wholegrain foods help sustain energy levels and increase your B vitamin intake.
- Hydrate: dehydration leads to sluggishness and dry skin. Sip water and herbal tea throughout the day.
- Sleep: aim to get 8hrs a night when possible and try to commit to at least one early night per week.
- Move it as often as possible: regular exercise is essential to keep you energised and to burn off any extra calorie intake!
The good news is these small positive steps all add up and the more often you do them, the more likely they are to become regular habits. The result could be a less drastic start to 2012.
