Hello, we're Gunpowder Studios the creators of the Crystal Palace Local. We are a local web and design company based in Crystal Palace and this is our gift to the community for putting up with us.
We work all over the UK, but we believe in doing our bit for the local Crystal Palace community that is our home and has helped nurture and grow our business over the years. That's why we continue to get involved, free of charge, in community and charity-based projects.
The Crystal Palace Local website was devised and built by the Gunpowder Studios team. It is a free-to-use, free-to-advertise directory that lists local businesses and organisations for local people to find and use. Since its launch in 2008, 500 organisations have added themselves to the directory, and it is fast becoming a popular local resource, securing regular daily visits from advertisers and users.
In version 2 of Crystal Palace Local, created with the support of Croydon Enterprise, we have transformed the site into a fully-featured community tool where local people can sign on and use the site to post content, including news, notices, an event calendar and many more features that we will roll out over the next few months, including Freecycle, classifieds and other helpful community add-ons.
Behind the site is the hallmark creativity and technical ability of the Gunpowder Studios team - a showcase for us, and a new local website for the good people of Crystal Palace
Gunpowder studios, formally Pen and Ink Design, was established in 1998 by cartoonist and designer Tim Sharville. We are a team of illustrators, cartoonists, writers, designers, photographers and web technicians, with over 20 years experience in marketing, illustration, design and corporate identity.
Gunpowder Studios began working in graphic design when it was called commercial art. Since then, we've put a lot of time and effort into making sure that our skills and technical knowledge are bang up to date. Our strength comes from our combination of original skills and our ability to effectively express brand presence through contemporary mediums like the web and print.
We have a good track record for working with a broad range of clients, and can tailor our services up or down depending on the time and budget. We particularly enjoy working with small and new businesses who need a professional brand identity at a reasonable price.
